MotorSpecs Data is available for all passenger vehicles that were available in the UK dating back to 1990. Simply enter the Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM) and we will be able to show you the original manufacturers specification for the car, all of the optional extras that were available for that vehicle, the price of each optional extra and the price of the vehicle when new. In addition to all of the great information we will also provide you with the running costs of the vehicle including the annual insurance cost, annual fuel costs, servicing costs, tyre costs, finance costs and depreciation costs.
The “Ultimate Market Valuation” includes a current market valuation for the vehicle including the current value of the optional extras fitted to the car, a depreciation curve and the predicted future residual value of the coming years.

Yes…well almost! MotorSpecs has manufacturer specifications & options data, pricing & valuation data and running costs data for every passenger car made available for sale in the UK market since 1990. We have linked this vehicle data to each vehicle registered in the UK by reg number.
There are certain limitations. Currently we don’t provide spec and options data for Commercial Vehicles or Grey Imports.

Any MotorSpecs report where we have matched the reg number or VRM of the car to its original manufacturer specification, will contain pricing details for the vehicle when it was new. So, for example, if your car was first registered back in 1994 we will be able to tell you what the manufacturer’s recommended retail price for the car was back in 1994. In addition to this we can also show you the original price of each of the optional extras that could have been fitted to the car. By configuring your report with MotorSpecs you can find our exactly how much the vehicle cost when new, including all of the optional extras that may have been added. This allows greater accuracy when producing a current market value.

Every passenger vehicle available for sale in the UK back as far as 1990 is available on our database with stock images of the vehicle. MotorSpecs matches the reg number or VRM to the appropriate vehicle specification data including images. Once we can find an accurate match we will be able to supply stock images of the model.

Yes – MotorSpecs uses the manufacturer specifications data to assist with the calculation of annual running costs. Data such as fuel consumption, Co2 emissions, fuel tank size, age, mileage, insurance group rating, tyre sizes and service schedules are used as input to our total cost of ownership calculations. The output provided is an accurate estimate of the annual running costs for the car.

MotorSpecs may be able to update your report with the MOT History for the vehicle if you can supply the V5C document reference number for the car. However, please be aware that there are some limitations to this service. MOT details are only available if you can supply a valid V5C document reference number for the vehicle and where the MOT details are recorded on the central VOSA MOT database. Sometimes this data will not be available, especially for older vehicles as well as vehicles where the MOT has been taken outside of the reach of the computer network.

Yes we do. We can provide all of the data seen on a MotorSpecs report direct to business users via our RESTful API. The data is supplied as a web service in either XML or JSON format. Full documentation is available for ease of integration with your website or back-office systems. Our API can be used in conjunction with your current VRM provider or alternatively we can supply the VRM lookup via our own data partners.
Data is priced on a “Pence per click” basis. Clients are charged per usage on a sliding scale dependant on the volume of lookups consumed each month, and are billed monthly in arrears. For further details please contact our integrations team today.
How MotorSpecs works for Business Users:
If you are a Trade User and would like access to our data, but don’t want to integrate our data into your systems, check our our web-based Trade Platform.
Its OK – our API is “VRM agnostic” and will work with any VRM provider’s basic DVLA lookup. If you don’t have an incumbent supplier our preferred partner for VRM is CDL. However our API will also work with VRM supplied by HPI, CarweB or Experian. Alternatively if you would like to compare costs of your existing VRM lookup against the costs of a new VRM lookup including MotorSpecs data we would be glad to facilitate this process for you.
